Justin Delk Wins Stockton Lake Tournament

Only four 5-fish limits came to the scales in American Bass Anglers Stockton Lake D126 tournament Saturday, June 23. Justin Delk topped the leader board with 14.75-lbs anchored with a 4.26-lb big bass. That wasn’t quite good enough for Big Bass honors as Jay Carter’s big bass tipped the scales at 5.04-lbs giving him a total of 13.84-lbs and 2nd place in the tournament. Delk won $666 for 1st place; Carter’s BB and 2nd place win earned him $684.

Mitchell Blehm weighed in 9.92-lbs for 3rd place; Scott Lawson was close behind with 9.27-lbs and 4th place. Tony French finished out the top five with 8.26-lbs. These anglers reported catching fish on worms, jigs, chatterbaits and buzzbaits. Most of them fished in the mid-lake areas.

This was one in a series of tournaments conducted by American Bass Anglers, Division 126, all held on Stockton Lake. This tournament series is a draw format and designed for the week-end angler, boaters and non-boaters from age 14. An ABA membership costing $35 per year is required and allows anglers to fish any ABA tournament. Entry fee for D126 tournaments is $70/angler; a $10 Big Bass option pot is offered.

The next tournament for this circuit will be July 21, 2018 on Stockton Lake using Old State Park as the launch site. The full 2018 schedule can be seen at www.centralmidwestbass.com.  The season will culminate with a 2-day Championship August 11-12, 2018. Anglers fish each tournament for cash and prizes from area sponsors including Pete’s, the Outboard Doctor, Albers Marine, Legacy Farm & Lawn, Ken’s Kafe and our newest sponsor, “That’s A Good Fish.”  They also earn points that qualify them to fish a National Championship scheduled for October 21-26 on Hartwell Lake in South Caroling.
