BJ Knowles Wins the ABA District 42 Tournament on the Arkansas River

The second D42 tournament of the 2018 was contested on the Arkansas River/Maumelle Pool launching out of Maumelle Park.  18 anglers came out and were greeted with great weather, but a fast moving and muddy river.  Despite the tough fishing conditions due to the recent rains, anglers were able to haul in some fish. 42 fish for a total weight of 84.32 lbs, with only four 5-fish limits crossed the scales.

BJ Knowles topped the field with a 5-fish limit totaling 13.23 lbs.  BJ also hauled in the days Big Bass, a nice 4.95 lb river chunk.  BJ junk fished all day to catch his fish.

Chuck Ellis sacked up five fish for a total weight of 12.33 lbs.  Chuck threw a crankbait to catch his fish.

Rounding out the top three was Corey Ruff who sacked up five fish for a total weight of 10.01 lbs.  Corey caught his fish on a buzzbait.

These anglers accrued valuable points toward the Divisional Angler of the Year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of The Year Final Round at the AFT Championship.  In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA, AFT National Championship tournament.

The American Fishing Tour offers low cost, close to home bass tournaments that are designed for the weekend angler. All ABA anglers fish for money and points. The points advance the angler to their divisional championship and the top 500 anglers in the US are invited to the American Fishing Tour National Championship for this fall on Lake Hartwell near Anderson SC.
