Michael Simms wins on the Chickahominy River
Michael Sims of Suffolk, VA won the RAM American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers Virginia Division 13 season opener held September 30th, 2017 on the Chickahominy River. Running out of the Riverfront Park in Williamsburg, VA Michael brought a five-fish limit that tipped the scales at 16.69 pounds. He anchored his bag with the big fish of the day, a very impressive 7.33 pound largemouth taken off shallow wood. Michael took home $600 for his victory.
Coming in second was Tim Schmitz of Williamsburg, VA with a five-fish limit that weighed 14.98 pounds.
Third was claimed by Calvin Hunter of North Chesterfield, VA with five fish that locked in the scales at 12.12 pounds.
Fourth was taken by Conner Harrison of Mechanicsville, VA with five fish locking in at 11.58 pounds. Rounding out the top five was Steve Colgin of Lanexa, VA with a weight of 11.25 pounds.
The next event for the Virginia division will be October 21 on Kerr lake, out of Rudds Creek.

These anglers are earning valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual Ram American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of the Year Final Round at the Ram American Fishing Tour National Championship.
The Ram American Fishing Tour offers low cost, close to home bass tournaments that are designed for the weekend angler. All ABA anglers fish for money and points.
