Tucker Wins 2 Day on Lake Norman
Thomas A. Tucker won the RAM American Fishing Tour division 14 Championship on Lake Norman in Mooresville, NC held on 06/10 and 6/11/2017.
Thomas A. Tucker of Cabin Creek, WV is one step closer to the RAM American Fishing Tour National Championship with a first place win on Lake Norman this past weekend. Tucker weighed in ten bass, which weighed 24.00 pounds.
Second place went to Lance Eckford of Troutman, NC with ten bass weighing 21.26 pounds.
Third place went to Robert Majerick of Eden, NC with 10 bass weighing in at 19.95 pounds.
Overall the fishing was pretty good on Lake Norman. All the anglers were able to bring fish back to the scales, and the weather while warm was very nice with mid 60’s in the mornings and upper 80’s in the afternoon. The winds were light and variable with skies mostly clear. Getting around a busy lake Norman on a beautiful weekend can be a little challenging for the anglers, but luckily everyone was able to make it back in safely and enjoy catching some of the bass that Lake Norman has to offer.
Our top two anglers reported fishing similar patterns by capitalizing on a good top water bite early and transitioning to a jig later in the day. T. A. Tucker was using a walking top water bait, and Lance was using a buzz bait, the jig of choice for both anglers was a Muffin Top jig in either a 7/16 or 9/16 oz. size. Color didn’t seem to matter as much as location for either angler. The key was to be in areas that had lots of bream activity.
Big bass honors went to T. A. Tucker, He weighed in a 4.37 pound largemouth on day 2 to beat out Jerry Stone of Sherrils Ford, NC who also had a kicker on day two that weighed 3.95 pounds. In total Tucker was able to bring home $716.00 in winnings. Lance Eckford earned $256.00 for his efforts as well as accruing enough points to take home the Divisional Angler of the Year Award. Congratulations to our lucky winners this weekend.
That wraps up another successful season for Division 14. Good luck to all the anglers still competing out there. We’ll get a 2018 season schedule out soon. Until then, thanks for supporting us and we look forward to seeing you soon on the RAM American Fishing Tour!
